Habitat for Humanity seeks to contract a consulting firm or a team of consultants to undertake a study that will provide a comprehensive understanding of the selected informal settlement to support the design and implementation of the “Home Equals” Demonstration Project. This multi-dimensional study encompasses various axes and stages to provide a comprehensive understanding of the socio- economic, environmental, and physical characteristics of the selected informal settlement in Greater Cairo. Identify climate change impacts on the community especially extreme temperatures, key related vulnerabilities, analyze adaptation needs and existing communities’ coping strategies and capacities. Recommend a location within the selected area for implementing the demonstration project for climate adaptation retrofits and identify opportunities of different population groups within the selected area and provide recommendations for suitable retrofitting interventions to enhance the community’s resilience.

ToR Clarifications

“Urban Profile, Local Practices, and Retrofitting Design for Climate Resilience in an informal settlement in Greater Cairo”

In response to inquiries received on the ToR for the above-mentioned study for the Home Equals Project, please find the following clarifications:

  • The demonstration project is expected to be implemented in a location in El Khosous city in Qalyubia.
  • We’re expecting task #1 (Urban Profile) to be a desk review compiling available data and information at the city level, with minimal field visits if required.
  • The main focus of the study, which requires intensive field work, are task #2 and task #3
  • The project schedule outlined in the TOR excludes the review and approval from HFHE on deliverables.
  • The study report will be in Arabic with an Executive summary and the presentation of the findings (task #4) will be in Arabic and English.
